“We are very good at preparing to live, but not very good at living. We know how to sacrifice ten years for a diploma, and we are willing to work very hard to get a job, a car, a house, and so on. But we have difficulty remembering that we are alive in the present moment”
I was browsing the Audible sale and saw this book listed. I read it years ago but I thought it might be a good walking companion (really working on making a daily walk into a habit). What a great choice, except that I want to stop and write down quotes every few minutes. So I have a printed copy coming from the library. But this quote – about preparing to live but not being very good at living – this idea has been on my mind for months. I think I need to write this one on a sticky note and put it on my mirror for a daily reminder. Pay attention to this tiny, ordinary moments, like that fuzzy bee and those beautiful, butterfly bush blooms.
Does this strike a chord in your heart too?
