What’s your word?

When we choose to rest from work, it is an act of compassion toward ourselves.” Shelly Miller, Rhythms of Rest: Finding the spirit of sabbath in a busy world

This is not the word I thought I would be sharing when Carole and I chatted about how we could use our blog spaces to make our words more visible this year. I was about halfway through Shelly Miller’s book but I was also reading a lot about gratitude and the difference between being grateful and living gratitude. And then there was health, wellness, and rooted- all words that seems to be calling for attention.

But that last week before Christmas break the best word to describe how I felt was weary. I knew I needed to rest. And on the 24th, I found myself on the couch with an ice pack on my knee and tears in my eyes from knee pain. Yup. I really did need to rest.

So here it is.

My one word for 2019.

It feels a bit counterintuitive. But I am pretty sure that there is plenty of action in this word.

What is your word? I hope you will share it here.
