Last spring I found that many bookstores were taking their author talks online. I am an author talk junkie and Seattle offers so many of these talks. I am thankful for the opportunity to hear so many authors online over the last 8 months. Here are the three most recent talks I have enjoyed.
I was able to take a little break with tea and knitting and watch Tayari Jones as part of the MMD book club. She was talking about Silver Sparrow and it was a great talk. I read American Marriage earlier this year but now I want to read her first two books.
Homegoing was a favorite read of mine (last year maybe?) so I was excited to read Transcendent Kingdom and surprised to get it from the liberal. Her Seattle author talk was canceled so I was happy to find Yaa Gaysi on YouTube.
I also watched Nancy Pearl talk about her newest book, The Writers Library. Nancy is a Seattle book world icon. I have attended a number of author talks where Nancy does an amazing job of interviewing authors. I am planning to listen to this book.
Jumping over to link up with Carole today.
I read American Marriage last year, as well–curious how you like Sparrow. I liked Celeste Ng’s Little Fires, now I’m listening to Everything I Never Told You on audio. And I think I’m enjoying that one (her first), more than Fires… I think I’ll do some more backlist reading this winter!
Those are all great but I have to admit that knowing you appreciate Nancy Pearl fills my heart with joy!
Thank you for the wonderful book recommendations. I have never read anything by Tayari Jones, but Silver Sparrow is going on my Christmas list!
That’s a great side effect to this life we have to live right now! Online podcasts and author talks and concerts…They are all wonderful.
I think it was you who connected us to the talk with the author of The Mountains Sing last month? I’ve signed up for the interview with Kylie Reid through that library as well. I heard just a few minutes of an NPR interview with Yaa Gyasi a while back and really enjoyed Homegoing, so I’m looking forward to reading Transcendent Kingdom as well.
