Stay@Home quilting

this quilt is now 28”

A quick post about the current state of my design wall. I finished adding the next border to my Stay@home round robin. This round called for adding flying geese blocks. After making a few with different fabrics, I decided that what I wanted to see what more white space. I used my flying geese blocks to create part of a variable star in each corner. This gave me a chance to use those sheep again. I am also imagining some vines meandering around those white borders. I will link up with the group for week 3.

these blocks are 8” and depending on the setting, this could be a nice lap quilt

I am also working on the curved piecing quilt top. I started out with a different plan but after two days of stitching and unstitching, I decided I needed more experience with curved piecing on a simple block. I have 8 of these and will make 8 more this on the. I was playing around with possible settings – on point with some extra squares perhaps. I will wait until I am done with all 16 blocks before I make up my mind. This is another one that is being done from my stash.

I am so grateful for the creative people who are hosting these quilt along groups. If you have to Stay@Home it is fun to have diversions.

  1. great fabric choices, lots of movement but also cohesion. I like your block designs too, and aren’t drunkard path blocks fun to make?? So many design choices with those one could never run out of fabric/color/design work
    yes to having diversions!

  2. So glad you used the flying geese to make a star! I’ve been feeling uneasy about having the blocks with the geese upside down. I still have 2 sides to go and am still trying to decide how to do them. Your circles are impressive! It’s fun trying to use up the stash, isn’t it? (That will take me a while, especially with the yarn.)
