I finished my Birkin last night and it is blocking now. I tried it on so many time as I was knitting it and I think this will be a go to sweater. I almost gave up when I read the many comments about the fit being off. I was almost finished with color-work so I kept going and I am very pleased with the results.
Now, reading time. I have three Books and need help deciding which will be up next. One is an audiobook so I could do two at a time but I also have a non-fiction audiobook I wanted to start. Want to help me choose?
This one that is waiting at the library, or this one that has been waiting on my Kindle, or this one that is on the PBS Great American Read list.
Be sure to visit Carole for more three things posts today.
What a wonderful weekend we had. Yes, we lost an hour but the sun was out, the skies were blue, and it was warm enough to begin digging in the garden. I was able to turn the soil in my raised beds and get some of the debris cleaned up. It will be awhile before any planting can happen but the planning has begun.
I continue to make progress on my Birkin. But I can’t stop browsing Ravelry and thinking about casting on something new.
There is this,
The weekend is gone. My fridge is filled with veggies and I am taking the Simple Green Smoothie challenge this week.
Enjoy your Monday.
No unraveling, just some slow progress on my Birkin sweater. I have never been a monogamous knitter but I do want to see if I can finish this one while there is still time to wear it. I am putting a small marker that I can move each day as I inch toward the hem. And then of course there will need to be sleeves. But one thing at a time.
Not much reading due to that nasty sinus thing. It was so bad that I could not even wear my glasses which makes it hard to read. I did finish listening to It’s Not Dark Yet. I am in awe of people who find the light in every situation. I have a few audio books on hold at the library so I will spend this in between time catching up on podcasts.
I am also excited to read that Grace will be writing about books and reading and readers. Be sure to stop by and see her.
The unraveling around here comes in the form of illness. It seems most of the family and too many co-workers have succumbed to the crud. Hopefully I have had my run and will stay well this time around. Somebody needs to play nurse.
I continue on the body of my Birkin. There was a glitch with the formatting on the printed pattern and a number of knitters have given up on this sweater. Mine seems to be okay (only 3 rows missed on the size I am knitting) so I plug away. I’m not very fast and this is fingering on size 6 needles so I will be here awhile. I did finish two more toddle sized hats for the donation box and have used up a bit more stash. Somehow, as much as I have been knitting from stash, the piles do not seem to get smaller. I have had the same experience with quilting fabric.
I started listening to It’s Not Dark Yet and downloaded White Houses to my kindle. Both are holding my attention which is good. I have a few books on hold at the library, just hoping they don’t all arrive at the same time.
Happy Wednesday. Be sure to visit Kat for more fun post and perhaps a bit of unraveling.
I am behind on almost everything in my life with the exception of knitting. And honestly, all I want to do is knit all the things. So this weekend I loaded all my out of the house activities into Saturday and the took Sunday off from being in the world. I entertained the not so tiny person and when he took a nap, so did I. We played, read books, ate snacks, looked at worms and sticks at the park. It was lovely.
The weekend was also full of knitting. I cast on my Stopover – had to change yarn choices but still knitting from stash. I wanted to use that blue but I didn’t have the right contrasts so there is more grey on my needles. After checking with Kat, I stuck with the waist shaping as written. I have 4 inches left on the body. Then I am going to try knitting the sleeves magic loop and two at a time. I also made it to the sleeve divide on my Birkin. Now I have inches and inches of meditative stockinette to fill my evenings.
And now I guess I will tackle Monday.,
Bonny began her first post of the new year with a reminder to begin as you mean to go so here is my beginning. This morning I made a batch of green ginger juice to get my mornings started this week. Then I made a big bowl of a lighter version of this yummy salad. I made my own dressing and used yogurt. I also used a bit less cheese and dressing. It made three servings so I used one to make a green nest for my poached egg this morning. Then I added chopped apples and roasted chicken to the other two servings so I have my lunches made for the first two days back to work. It is not going to be easy to head back to school but at least I will have my lunches made.
I had time to get the first round of color work done on my new sweater project last night. I need to cast on another hat because I anticipate some waiting time this week and I will want some simple knitting to carry around.
Enjoy this first today of the new year.
