I finished this lovely top earlier this month thanks to the motivation and inspiration from Lori’s string along. Had so much fun making these blocks, using up a bunch of fabrics, and getting it under the feed dogs. This last day of September has been sunny but pretty cold. I plan to spend a fair amount of time wrapped up in this quilt this evening.
I do have another quilt idea brewing but that story is for another day.
I am happy to say there is no unraveling in my fiber life. In fact, things are going well.
I reached the side split point on my Junegrass sweater and have just two more inches of garter on the front. After I tackle the back I will make a decision about sleeve length.
I also decided my string quilt was large enough and my string scrap box was very close to empty. I found a piece of fabric for backing and enough batting in my closet so I got that top pin basted last weekend. I am doing some simple stitching following the lines of the blocks. Hope to get that finished this week and then it will be binding time. Should have a finished quilt by the time I return to work next week.
I have 100 pages left in Pachinko and ignoring that work related reading stack. Off to visit Kat and Lori this morning.
I have been playing with these low volume fabrics for months and I am loving the results. I made two sizes and decided that the small blocks could be sewn together and set here and there to add some interest. I have quilt retreat coming at the end of the month and this will be my main project for that sewing time. Just need to get a whole bunch more strings cut.
Joining Lori for this fun string along.
Lori does a small quilt swap about once a year. Lori attracts the loveliest folks and is a fun way to create something small and connect with other quilters. This year my swap partner was Annemiek. Annemiek lives in Holland (that is the cute card she included as well as a pretty mirror with a Delft pattern on the back side.). What fun to open the package and find this beautiful little quilt.
Off to join Lori’s quilt swap link up today.
